Locker 27 Summer Social
On Saturday 27th July Locker 27 strength and conditioning gym hosted their Summer Social and kindly teamed up with Transcend Sarcoma to raise both awareness and funds for Sarcoma research. Transcend Sarcoma founder Jack Holmes has been a member of the gym community for the last 4 years, representing the gym at a number of functional fitness competitions across the UK in that time. Locker 27 reaching out to collaborate with Transcend is a clear sign of the amazing community the gym has built over the years.
The Summer Social consisted of 3 team events, with gym members battling it out before a well deserved BBQ and a few drinks to celebrate (in some long overdue summer sunshine). The Transcend team even got involved with some of the workout design, with one of the workouts dedicated to raising awareness of some of the key statistics of Sarcoma. The workout involved a 4295m row (the number of Soft Tissue Sarcoma cases per year in the UK) as a ‘buy-in’ before team had to tackle some synchronised dumbbell thrusters - the winning team would be the ones with most thrusters accumulated! - The workout is in the picture gallery below if you fancy giving it a go yourself!
Locker 27 also sold Transcend merch and took donations throughout the day and raised an incredible £1500 for Sarcoma research, an absolutely fantastic effort... A huge thank you to Locker 27 from everyone at Transcend!
