Hever Castle Triathlon

A recurring pattern seems to emerge when a member of the Transcend community takes on a multi-discipline sporting challenge—things rarely go completely according to plan. This trend continued with Ellie’s triathalon in Hever Castle, Kent on Sunday 29th of September. There was meant to be 1.9k swim to start with but they had had flooding earlier in the week which had caused pollution in the lake so they cancelled the swim at the last minute. This swim was then replaced with a muddy/hilly 6.5k run!

The race was disrupted not only by the last-minute route change but also by Ellie’s watch dying just over halfway through, leaving her without any idea of the time or her pace!

It was such a special day though and, even though Jack was coming into his final few days, he stayed in contact via voice notes the whole day and was so proud of me. I remember thinking how can he even be thinking about me when he has so much going on

Ellie’s friend Victoria (pictured) joined her for the final stretch of the race to keep her company. For those who have followed Transcend’s journey from the start, you might recall that this is not Ellie’s first triathlon for Transcend this year. In July, she competed alongside Victoria in the Dorney Lake Olympic Triathlon!

We are incredibly grateful to Ellie for her unwavering support—a truly remarkable member of the Transcend community.
